A little bit of everything: sports, politics, music, life, and happiness, all from the mind of a teenager who can't even (legally) drive yet.

Finally!

Well, I finally got my computer working. The graphics card had fried. The new one came today. That thing is incredible. It needs its own seperate power supply, just as if it was a disk drive. Crazy. It feels so good to be able to use the computer again.

Tomorrow is the dance, and I'm drading it. I've had to plan it, and it's been a total nightmare. I hate this Student Government stuff. Complete and total B.S. All of it. It's the biggest waste of time since basketball was invented. Which leads me to my next point...

I just watched the Nuggets beat the Cavs. Melo vs. Bron-Bron. Carmelo finished with something like 9 or 10 points, but Earl Boykins shouldered the load and carried Denver past Cleveland. LeBron had 35 or so. The Nuggets killed in the fast break. Some of their passes were so good, it made me want to pee. Anyways, I'm too tired to write any more. I wish someone would come and read my blog.....

What do you have for a new card? I thought they were able to stop making the cards with the extra power connectors because they had all of their problems worked out with the original power methods. Either way, it's always nice to have your computer restored to you.

It's a PNY technologies Verto AGP 8x GeForce 6600 GT with an NVidia chipset and 128MB DDR3 RAM. And about the power cord, the user's manual said that only the 6800 needed the extra power. So I didn't hook it up at first. But then when I booted it up, it said it needed more power. It seems a bit strange to me.

Not too shabby at all. I'm running a PYT fx5700. It was the cheapest DirectX 9.0 compatable card I could find when I upgraded from my Radeon 7000 7 months ago. I've noticed that nVidia usually has power problems with their new chips for the first year or so of production. That's the main reason that I tend to lean toward ATI instead of nVidia, the chips run cooler and use 30-50 watts less power for comparable performance. When I build my new system in June I will probably use a Radeon X700XT All-in-Wonder PCI-express card if they are readliy available and affordable.
